Particulate matter exposure at a densely populated urban traffic intersection and crosswalk

چکیده
Exposure to elevated particulate matter (PM) pollution is of great concern both the general public and air quality management agencies. At urban traffic intersections, for example, pedestrians are often at a higher risk exposure near-source PM from while waiting on roadside or walking in crosswalk. This study offers an in-depth investigation pedestrian intersection. Fixed-site measurements near intersection were conducted examine variations particles various sizes through signal cycles. process aids identification major dispersion patterns roadside. In addition, mobile across six time intervals that correspond different segments pedestrian’s journey when passing Measurement results used estimate compare cumulative deposited doses by size categories Furthermore, comparisons sunny day cloudy analyzed. The indicate importance reducing intersections provide policymakers with foundation possible measures reduce intersections.

Chemical Characterization of Particulate Matter at Traffic Prone Roadside Environment in Agra, India
In the present study, size-segregated samples of PM were collected from urban and semi-urban traffic junctions in Agra, India. PM samples were collected during the monsoon season (July to September 2015) using Grimm portable aerosol Spectrometer. The recorded mean concentration of PM10 at urban site was 137.09±61μg/m3 and at semi-urban site was 270.14±21μg/m3, which were higher than the suggest...
متن کاملReal-Time Rendering of Densely Populated Urban Environments
In this paper we present some preliminary results concerning a realtime visualisation system for densely populated urban environments. In order to be able to render the large number of humans without compromising too much the image quality, we developed a method based on Image-Based Rendering techniques. To allow them to move freely in the city while avoiding collisions against the environment ...
متن کاملAnimal reservoirs for visceral leishmaniasis in densely populated urban areas.
Leishmaniasis is a zoonotic disease of major public health and veterinary importance, affecting 88 countries with up to 2 million cases per year. This review emphasizes the animal reservoirs and spreading of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in urban areas, particularly in two Brazilian metropolitan areas, namely São Luis and Belo Horizonte, where the disease has become endemic in the past few years....

متن کاملModeling Traffic Flow at an Urban Unsignalized Intersection
This paper proposes a new way to study traffic flow at an urban unsignalised intersection, through detailed space considerations, using cellular automata (CA). Heterogeneity and inconsistency are simulated by incorporation of different categories of driver behaviour and reassignment of categories with given probabilities at each time step. The method is able to reproduce many features of urban ...
